These instructions are intended to help you in case you have any questions before your surgery. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call us.
Your periodontist may recommend you to stop taking aspirin 7-10 days before your surgery, and in some case non-steroidals such as Motrin or Advil. If you are on Coumadin or Pradraxa, please discontinue as directed by your physician or anti-coagulation clinic. Antibiotic premedications should be taken as directed, with food if possible. Our office is air-conditioned, so loose-fitting, warm clothes are recommended. Please feel free to bring headphones and a music player if this makes you more comfortable.
Medications: Please take any medications prescribed to you as directed prior to your appointment. If you have been prescribed oral sedation, such as Valium or Triazolam, you MUST HAVE AN ESCORT TO AND FROM THE APPOINTMENT. If you have any questions about your medications, please contact us. If you have a normal medication regiment, such as high blood pressure meds you take, do not change your regiment on the day of surgery unless directed otherwise.
Try and get a good nights rest and eat a good dinner the night before for morning appointments. Avoid coffee or tea prior to an appointment if possible. Keep your diet balanced and healthy leading up to and after the appointment. A list of post-op foods is listed in our post-operative instructions page.
